CONDOR 2 SCENERY DOWNLOAD
That said, to make it complete, you can decide to download the following ZL17 packages too: The reason I point out that you need “at least” these nine files, is because some parts of the Netherlands belong to German and Belgium packages.

Which SimHeaven ZL17 packages do you need?įor a Dutch photo real impression, you need “at least” the following files: The contents of the previous paragraphs are courtesy of SimHeaven (), but now you should use the ZL16 from ZPhotoXP (). – Addons, libraries (UrbanMax圎xtreme, SeaTraffic, OpenSceneryX…) The order and thus the priority in the scenery_packs.ini from top to bottom should be as follows: What should be the priority in the scenery_pack.ini file? If you fly VFR, like this impression, that means at low altitudes with low air speeds, then it’s a good idea to go for the ZL17 packages so that you can see more ground details. For IFR flights ZL16 is sufficient since you fly most of the time at high altitudes. It depends on your hardware, your X-Plane version 32 or 64bit and the flights you make. surface varies its latitude about 111 km.
CONDOR 2 SCENERY FULL
Of course, this depends on your PC or Mac specifications.įor a ZL15 (approximately 4.8 m / pixel), each tile fills about 400 to 600 MB.įor a ZL16 (approximately 2.4 m / pixel), each tile fills about 1.8 GB.įor a ZL17 (approximately 1.2 m / pixel), each tile fills between 7 and 8 GB.įor a ZL18 (approximately 60 cm / pixel), a full tile would fill about 32 GB.Ī tile is a 1° longitude x 1° latitude area, so a square km. If you have sceneries of high ZL, X-Plane can freeze during flight while loading the next scenery or tile. You’ll have much longer download times and a longer X-Plane scenery loading time. The higher the ZL, the higher the quality, but also the more disk space you need. ZL means “Zoom Level” and stands for the quality of photo sceneries.
CONDOR 2 SCENERY HOW TO
OK, let me explain some SimHeaven basics when it comes to which Zoom Level (ZL) you need, how to check the correct priority in the scenery_packs.ini file and which files you need to cover the whole Netherlands including those packages that are on the border with Germany and Belgium. And above all, I feel it is worth a highlighted scenery product. It’s also worth to show you what’s possible with photo-real scenery although photo-real scenery has the disadvantage that it only covers one season. Still I think it’s worth to re-introduce this photo-real scenery impression of my home country. So that’s promise 1. My second promise is to find the time to do the same flight but with the photo-real packages from ZPhoto although knowing that these are ZL16. See what happens and remember, it’s just a thought.

While writing this, May 2016, I’m thinking of re-introducing these ZL17 packages for the Netherlands with of course, the approval from SimHeaven. Instead, you can look at ZPhotoXP who offers ZL16 packages. But it must be said that SimHeaven no longer offers these “ZL” photo-real European packages. What kind of glider sims are you flying and do you look forward to a complete glider experience in MSFS or will you stuck with earlier developed glidersims like condor, addons in other flightsims or the new developed aersoft glidersim. The initial plan, besides many others, was to offer you an impression of the SimHeaven’s “France photo scenery”, but I found out that the Netherlands was also available in ZL17 quality, so I decided to go for my own country first.

I havent bought it yet because my glider flying, i still do on condor 2 (despite the low-medium end scenery) and the rest I do on MSFS. graphics looked nice in the trailer and it sounded all very promissing (the birds flying around and indicate thermals triggerd me much). In the meantime Condor 2 arrived and I flew it whit a lot of passion waiting for the glider to appear after the introduction of MSFS.Ī month ago i came across an advert of aerosoft where they were presenting a new stand alone glider simuator. One major thing missing whas the realistic scenery and the multiplayer option where one can “play” the towplane and the other one the glider. Also the termal helpers were of great use to practice centring the termals and flying while scanning the instruments to prevent stall situations. It had a tow and winch ability which helped me a lot with start, landing and emergency procedures during these phases of flight and helped me to go solo sooner than I thought. It coincidetally started just after the introduction of the Condor (first edition) glider sim. I have been gliding for a while in real life. In all the choices we have nowadays regarding sims, wich one is the favourite glidersim and what is it that makes that one special and what is missing in it. Many topics are allready devoted to them but one sensitive topic seems still to be avoided. Since the introduction of MSFS last year a couple of things were on my wishlist.
